Having Doubts About your Experience?

Therian

So, I've been thinking a lot lately about how tough it can be for some of us therians, especially when it comes to, like, feeling unsure about our identities and worrying about what other people think. If you're reading this and you've ever had those thoughts, trust me, you're not alone. I get it—being a therian can feel super weird sometimes, especially when you're trying to figure out if your experiences are real or if you're just imagining things. But let me tell you, your experiences are real, and they matter.

First off, let’s talk about the doubts. I know how easy it is to start questioning yourself. Like, you feel a connection to a specific animal, maybe you experience phantom shifts, or you just know deep down that your spirit isn't fully human. Then, boom! Suddenly, you start wondering, "Am I making this up? Is this even possible?" It’s like, you’ve got this part of yourself that feels so true, but then your brain’s like, "Nope, that’s not normal."

Here’s the thing: being a therian isn’t about being "normal" by society’s standards. It’s about what’s true to you. The therian community is super diverse, with so many people who share similar feelings, whether it's a psychological connection to an animal or something more spiritual. It's a personal experience, and that means it’s your experience. No one else gets to tell you what’s real for you.

I've seen on places like Reddit’s Therian community that so many people feel the same way—unsure, scared, worried that maybe they’re just “weird” or “crazy.” But here’s the thing: every single one of those people who speaks up, who shares their experiences, they’re all validating each other. When you open up about what you’re feeling, you’ll see that there are so many others out there who get it. They’re like, "Yeah, I’ve been there too," and suddenly, you don’t feel so alone anymore.

Another thing I wanna mention is the fear of what other people think. I know it can be scary to let people know about your therianthropy, especially when there’s a chance they might judge you or think it’s just a phase. Trust me, I’ve been there. But here’s what I’ve learned: the people who truly care about you will accept you for who you are. They might not fully understand it, and that’s okay—they don’t have to. What’s important is that they respect your identity.

And for those who don’t understand or judge you? That says more about them than it does about you. People are quick to judge what they don’t understand, and sometimes they react out of fear or ignorance. But that doesn’t mean you should hide who you are. If anything, it’s more important than ever to stand strong in your truth. Being a therian is just one part of who you are, and it’s something that makes you unique.

If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed by doubts, I recommend connecting with other therians. There are so many resources and communities out there, like the Therian Guide, where you can find support and reassurance. Sometimes, just talking to someone who’s been where you are can make a huge difference. You’ll realize that what you’re experiencing isn’t just in your head—it’s something real, shared by so many others.

So, here’s my advice: don’t let the doubts or the fear of what others think stop you from being who you are. Embrace your identity, whether you’re still figuring it out or you’ve known for years. Your experiences are valid, your feelings are real, and you deserve to live authentically. Surround yourself with people who get you, who lift you up, and who remind you that you’re not alone in this.

At the end of the day, being a therian is a personal journey, and no one can take that away from you. Keep exploring, keep connecting with others, and most importantly, keep being true to yourself. You’ve got this! 🌕🐺🦉
